Your Talents
Healing is about working towards reclaiming a sense of balance and harmony in the physical, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual lives of our people.” Tamara Mackean
KCWA is committed to developing a community in which healing occurs… in fact, a place where healing becomes commonplace.
We want to create a community which is empathic and understanding, a community in which people feel safe and gain hope that life can be better. A place where they are inspired to take responsibility for their own health and well-being. An environment where they can learn how to move forward and are supported on their healing journey. A community to which they feel they belong, and gain a sense agency, in particular by helping others in need. You can help us build such a community.
In the Building Community section of this website, we described how important it was for a community to look at its assets, capacities and abilities. The skills, talents and abilities of people in the community are key resources that facilitate community development.
We are therefore asking you to let us know about your skills, talents and abilities.
Are you skilled in the arts – singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, acting, painting, photography, etc? Or good with your hands – carpentry, toy making, egg carving, boab carving, etc? Or with food – kangaroo cooking, damper making, general catering, etc?
Do you have skills in construction and repair, or in a health-related field, or in sales? Do you work with computers? Are you a storyteller? Do you look after children?
There are many different ways that you may be able to help our community as it develops. Whatever your skill, KCWA wants to hear from you. And if you want to send in your Story, please feel free to do so and we can share it with others.
